‘Why’ is the operative word! To me it is important to know ‘why’— why is one color representative of stop versus go, why do they say that negative space evokes silence, why do applications with visuals perform better than applications without them? My investment in design is twofold: wanting to know answers and wanting to provide answers.
Developing a product — an answer — with a surface that matches its spirit is key in any industry, but especially so in UX design where the purpose must correlate intrinsically to its image. If technology is shaped and reshaped effectively, the user’s experience might start with a question or a problem but a solution is the endgame. Product design is about providing that solution.
I design because it requires me to take responsibility for my ideas from start to finish.
